Gamlebyen (Old Town) Hotell Fredrikstad is a small gem of a hotel in a great location in Northern Europe’s oldest  fortified fortress town, surrounded by beautiful nature and historic buildings in Fredrikstad. The Old Town is in itself a great area to spend a lot of time. Here you will find all sorts of small shops, clothing shops, blacksmiths, potters, artists, galleries, cafes, restaurants, museums and Glasshytta, where you can both watch glass being made, participate and shop. The shops are open on Sundays all year round. In addition, there is a free market in the square every Saturday, and during Advent, the entire Old Town is transformed into a child friendly and stress-free Christmas celebrations with its large Christmas fairs every weekend.

In these times, it can be good for body and soul to take a little vacation. The old town is only 1 hour from Oslo. If you come by car, you can easily park in the immediate area. If you come by train, the station is only a few steps and a ferry away from the Old Town.
